24 Hour Getaway to Los Alamos

Hi Darling!

I hope you are doing well and starting to feel a sense of normalcy around you! Phil is fully vaccinated and I get my last shot in May–woohoo! During COVID, I discovered the cutest little wine town called Los Alamos and dreamed of the day I would feel safe to travel again. Last week, we were able to take a little one-night getaway to visit Los Alamos to celebrate my birthday and we had the most wonderful experience! If you are looking for a weekend getaway with wine-tasting or some really delicious food, check out Los Alamos! Below are all the details of the places we tried.

WHERE TO STAY:

We stayed at the most quaint little house we found on Airbnb called The Bodega House that is located behind a wine + beer garden called Bodega.

The Bodega House

We had a lovely time but looking back on it we probably paid more than we had to but it was nice to have a quiet and peaceful house all to ourselves and loved that we could park our car for the day and walk to all of the tasting rooms and restaurants. Now that we know the area, there are definitely more places to stay for less that are just as walkable to everything! I recommend looking into the Alamo Hotel as well and there is a winery on-site too!

WHERE TO EAT:

Breakfast:

We had a traditional breakfast at Plenty on Bell and it did not disappoint. My go-to is usually the two egg breakfast w/ bacon and a pancake on the side which is what I ordered there and it hit the spot!

Lunch:

Bob’s Well Bread Bakery is the place to go, but be prepared to wait (so worth the wait!). They have handmade Artisan bread that’s incredible– I could have eaten there for both breakfast and lunch! Phil and I shared a grilled cheese w/ turkey and the BLT (both were so yummy!).

Dinner:

Pico all the way! My mouth is watering just thinking about what we ordered–so good! We started with the clam chowder and stuffed avocado crudo and had no leftovers. For our entrees, Phil ordered the Wagyu Ribeye and I had the burger…both were amazing! And in my opinion, every night should be completed with some sort of dessert. They had a chocolate lava cake that I could not pass up and OMG it was one of the best I have ever had!

WHERE TO DRINK:

  • Roblar Winery & Vineyards – Stop on your way into town and we were told it’s best to make a reservation ahead of time! Their GSM wine is really good.
  • Bedford Winery – A very low-key tasting room but you will most likely meet the owner who is very nice. We purchased The Old Man Red because we loved it so much.
  • Casa Dumetz Wines – The staff was incredible and went out of their way to make our experience so wonderful! They have unique wines…we loved the white cider wine but unfortunately, they do not sell it by the bottle.

  • Municipal – We didn’t have time to go, but want to check it out on our next trip!
  • The Depot Mall – We didn’t have time to stop by but it sounds like a unique experience to go antique shopping and grab a glass of wine at their bar!

Vacations are never long enough but this trip was exactly what we needed! Let me know if you make it out to Los Alamos and I would love to hear about your visit.

xo,

Katrin
