How We Met – the perfect match.

Hi Darling!

Do you believe in love at first sight, fate, serendipity, etc.? Do you think love is how they portray it in the movies? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for a good love story, but life doesn’t always play out like the movies. I would love to share my love story as we continue to get to know each other. It is not exactly the story I dreamed up in my head but I am so happy to call it my story.

Ok so to paint a clear picture, before I met Phil, I was ready to give up on the dating scene for a bit. Before I put a halt to my dating life, I signed up for Tinder. Yup I was going to give online dating a shot. I was incredibly embarrassed at the time to admit it and really only told my mom, my sister, and a few close friends. The reality was I worked for a women’s clothing company so the chance of me meeting someone at work was slim to none, I am not from California so I did not know a ton of people, and everyone in my friend circle seemed to be married or in a relationship…so Tinder it was!

A few matches later, Tinder introduced me to Philip Brown from Long Beach, CA. Little did we know, we were basically neighbors for years (only a few miles away from each other), but our paths did not cross until May 2015 thanks to Tinder! Phil was a real gentleman and persistent. He continued to pursue me for a good month before we met in person for our first date. I said yes to a first date as long as we made it a double date.

I tend to worry (A LOT) and overthink pretty much everything, so to say the least, I was incredibly nervous for our first date. At the last minute, Phil’s buddy could no longer join. I thought of a million reasons why I should cancel but thanks to some encouragement from my mom and my bestie, I went for it and our double date turned into Phil dating me and my best friend, Kerianne, at BO-beau Kitchen + Roof Tap.

As Kerianne and I parked outside the restaurant, I received a text from Phil letting me know he already had a table and where he was seated. The date was off to a good start because he already knew I did not like surprises or feeling unprepared. As soon as I walked into the restaurant and saw Phil, I had a major sigh of relief. He was even more handsome in person and I had a feeling he was going to be a keeper. Long story short, we clicked from the start and made it official over Thanksgiving 2016 when Phil proposed.

So it may not be the traditional love story, but it is our love story and I am so thankful I did not cancel that first date. I am sure there are others out there feeling the same way I felt about online dating and I hope our story can give you some affirmation that it is possible to meet someone this way. Once in a while, right in the middle of ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale.

Have a great week!
